What We Do
Creative Burlington is a not-for-profit independent organization dedicated to supporting arts and the arts community through programming, promotion and education. We represent a large and diverse membership from the Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton arts communities. We also provide opportunities for residents to participate in and explore local theatre, visual arts, literary arts, music and dance. Creative Burlington:
- communicates arts and cultural information
Our free magazine, Artworks, informs our members and the community about arts and cultural events and activities. We distribute 1,000-1,500 copies to our members by mail or email. The magazine is also available at libraries, recreation centres, theatres, tourism locations, Welcome Wagon, Burlington businesses and at our office on Lakeshore Road. Click here to read past issues.
- publicizes and markets member programs and activities
- hosts development workshops for artists, performers and arts organizations
Our Arts Development Program features workshops to help groups and artists succeed and fully enjoy their pursuits and careers. Topics include board development, marketing/public relations and fundraising, with a particular emphasis on strategic planning. Please email workshop questions to deb@performingartsburlington.com or call our office, 905-631-6666.
- maintains a database of artists, performers, organizations and resources
Our database of artists, performers and arts organizations allows members to share information among themselves and interested clients. We do not pass on contact information without the express permission of the member.
- grant information support click here for links to granting agencies
- fosters the development of a dynamic cultural environment.
We speak to key issues affecting our community, our members and the arts in general. In May 2007 we made a presentation to the City of Burlington’s Strategic Planning Team that focused on establishing coordinated leadership for the Burlington arts community; implementing a cultural strategy and ensuring a high standard of technical excellence for the Performing Arts Centre.
