Fred Sweeney
Fred retired as Director of Education at the Halton Catholic District School Board in 2001. He currently works as an education consultant and is heavily involved with the Burlington North Rotary Club. He was a founding Board member of The Carpenter Hospice and served as Chair from 2001-2003. He was Chair of the Burlington Rotary Music Festival and in 2007-2008 chaired the Scholarship Committee for Rotary District 7080. He served three years on the Finance Committee of Joseph Brant Hospital, and two years on the Board of Performing Arts Burlington. Fred has also served on the Communications Committee and Performing Arts Development Committee.

Paul Mitchell
Paul worked for more than 30 years in daily journalism, including 27 years at the Hamilton Spectator where he was Business Editor and Business Columnist. After leaving The Spectator, he joined Brickworks Communications in Burlington, where he worked with clients in both the public and private sectors, including the City of Burlington and Burlington Transit. Paul graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor's degree in Politics and worked at the BBC in London before immigrating to Canada. Paul has been involved with Performing Arts Burlington for several years, serving on the Communication Committee, now the Marketing Committee, as a member of the Rebranding Task Force, and as the editor of our ArtWorks magazine.

Michael Spinelli
Relatively new to Burlington, Michael is a Senior Manager in International Tax with Deloitte & Touche LLP, in Burlington. His previous community involvement includes Treasurer for the Brampton Board of Trade. He joined the Performing Arts Burlington Board in September 2009.

Christine Boyle
Christine joined Performing Arts Burlington’s Fundraising Committee in 2008. She has also served as Vice-President and Board member of Breast Cancer Support Services. As the parent of a dancer, Christine has supported the development of a strong arts community and the Performing Arts Centre to provide local performers a place of distinction in which to perform. In her professional career, she spent 15 years with CIT Financial and Leasebank Credit Corporation. She is currently an independent consultant for Arbonne and has served as Secretary on the Board of Performing Arts Burlington.

Bob Martin
Bob is a lawyer with the firm Martin & Hillyer. His practice concentrates on Estates, Real Estate, Corporate & Commercial Law and Family Law. Bob has represented children as a Children's Lawyer Appointee for more than 20 years. His extensive community involvement includes six years on the Halton District Health Council and 15 years on the Board of Joseph Brant Hospital, including two years as Chairman. He is the Past-Chairman of the Burlington Downtown Business Association.

Wendy Carmichael Bauld
Wendy is an award winning artist who was honoured in 2009 as Burlington’s Arts Person of the Year. She has raised almost $20,000 by supporting more than 10 charities, including Performing Arts Burlington, by donating many of her beautiful paintings. Her diverse work can be found at numerous galleries, including the Art Gallery of Hamilton and McMaster Gallery, along with many high profile facilities such as Carpenter Hospice, McMaster University and St Joseph’s Villa. She has had solo and group exhibitions across Canada and has attracted many private and corporate collectors worldwide. Through passion and dedication, her leadership inspires and motivates others to continue to express themselves and find strength through creativity.

Chris Paterson
Chris owns and publishes SNAP Burlington, a free monthly print publication specializing in a "non-political" friendly and entertaining photographic view of living in our community. He is very involved personally and professionally in Burlington; helping to organize as well as photograph community events for his paper. He has been in the marketing, advertising and printing industry for more than 20 years. Chris has been involved with Performing Arts Burlington since founding SNAP Burlington and publishes a monthly article for the organization profiling artists and organizations from a variety of disciplines.

Serena Lee
Serena is a lawyer with Simpson Wigle LLP in Burlington and a registered Trademark Agent with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. Her practice focuses on business law and trademarks. Before joining Simpson Wigle, Serena spent several years at a leading New Brunswick law firm. Her community work included extensive involvement with the United Way of Greater Saint John and the New Brunswick Association for Community Living. She has served on the Membership Committee and the Board of Performing Arts Burlington.

Bill Leslie
Bill and his partner Stephen Bell own and operate Pepperwood Properties, which includes Pepperwood Bistro, La Costa Nuova and Walkers Fish Market in Burlington and Mississauga, as well as Rosewood Bistro in Mississauga. Pepperwood’s Catering & Special Events is the exclusive caterer for Beverly Golf & Country Club, Royal Botanical Gardens and the Burlington Art Centre as well as a full service off site caterer. Bill has been involved in many community organizations and activities, including service as Treasurer of Performing Arts Burlington and co-chair of the Fundraising Committee.

Barbara Ramsay Orr
Barbara was a Drama, English and Arts teacher for the Wentworth County Secondary School Board before becoming a freelance journalist. Her writing focuses on arts, culture, food and travel and appears in Chatelaine, Canadian Living, The Globe and Mail and Hamilton Magazine. A Burlington resident, Barbara has served as Vice-president of the Travel Media Association of Canada (2004-2006). Barbara is also an artist and joined the Performing Arts Burlington Board in 2009.

Brad Hails
Brad is a long time resident of Burlington who has been involved in the performing arts for more than 25 years, beginning as a child selling merchandise and touring with his grandfather, Gordie Tapp. He has travelled across North America performing with several bands, most recently with The Killin’ Time Band. Brad has worked in the film and television industry and now operates his own web and graphic design company, Top Banana Media, based in downtown Burlington. He has designed websites for many local businesses and is proud of the site he donated for the Burlington Festival of Lights. Brad has been on the Board of Performing Arts Burlington since 2009.

Jessica Pym
Jessica has lived in Burlington all her life, and has been involved in the arts almost as long. A graduate of the University of Toronto's Theatre & Drama Studies Program, she is the Marketing-Communications Coordinator for danceScape. Jessica became involved with Burlington Student Theatre as a student in 1991 and remains involved as a volunteer and part-time staff member. She sings with and is on the board of the Burlington Civic Chorale. Jessica joined the Board of Performing Arts Burlington in 2009.

Rick Goldring
Rick is City Councillor for Ward 5 in the City of Burlington and is Vice-Chair of the Budget and Corporate Service Committee. A lifelong Burlington resident, he has been in business locally for 27 years and is actively involved in community affairs. He is a Senior Financial Advisor with Assante Financial Management and is also a member and Past President of the Hamilton Chapter of Advocis, Canada’s largest association of Financial Advisors. Rick is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Ron Edwards (Burlington) Family YMCA, the Burlington Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore. Rick has served on the Board of Performing Arts Burlington since his election to council in 2006.

Rainer Noack
Rainer is the founder and Program Director for Burlington Student Theatre. In his 30-year career in arts education he has developed, coordinated, implemented and encouraged programs targeted at youth aged from three to 30-plus. He has been involved in event organization and volunteer coordination at almost every gala held in Burlington, and worked on or with several boards, including the Board of Theatre Aquarius and the Woodview Children’s Centre. Rainer joined Performing Arts Burlington’s Board in 2009.

Joe Henning
As Technical Supervisor at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, Joe is responsible for making sure the show goes on and, for the performers and audience, comes off glitch-free. Never one to seek the spotlight, Joe’s entire 20-year career in the entertainment industry has taken place backstage and behind the scenes. He has taught and mentored up-and-coming technicians at Sheridan College and held seminars for students interested in rigging and lighting. Joe has kept busy at other theatres besides the Oakville Centre. He was Technical Director at the U of T’s Scarborough College Leigha Browne Theatre. And, as a resident of Burlington, he has been a long-standing supporter of the development of a performing arts theatre here, as a member, and co-chair of the Performing Arts Centre Advisory Committee for Performing Arts Burlington. Over the past year and a half, Joe has been the only volunteer member of the Project Management Team for the design and construction of the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. |
